Key Staff Roles and Responsibilities

Parent Online Safety Workshop
We would like to invite all parents to an Online Safety Workshop on Thursday 24th September at 8pm on Zoom. The workshop is being delivered by The 2 Johns, who are ex police officers and current police trainers. They are experts in their field and have featured on BBC breakfast and other TV shows. With the current online landscape forever changing, we strongly recommend that you attend so you know how to keep your children safe online. To attend the workshop please use this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87001669398
Wellies for Green School
Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 3 and Year 4 will have Green School lessons outdoors again this year, and will need a pair of named wellies and a waterproof coat (also named). We will be outside unless the weather is extreme, and the Nature Trail gets muddy quickly in wet weather so all children need wellies (so we don’t bring mud back into school). Wellies should stay at school so they can also use them for Opal play outdoors throughout the week. Thank you! Mrs Greene
Community Gardening – for the whole family!
Join us every other Wednesday after school again this year for some more free gardening with Mrs Greene (Green School teacher). All ages welcome! We’ll be digging and preparing the beds for Autumn this term, cutting back bushes and shrubs, and harvesting any remaining vegetables. Come along and meet other families and learn a bit about growing your own veg! These are free drop-in sessions and you don’t have to make a commitment – just come when you can.

Fitness Club is an active, early morning session where children can get moving, try different challenges and have fun! We’ll complete a mixture of games, circuits, relays and team activities to build strength, coordination, fitness and confidence. Please note there is no breakfast included at this club. Children will be dismissed to the playground at the end of the session and make their way to class.
Wednesday Running Club 3.30-4.40 (Y3-6)
Running Club is aimed at children who already enjoy running and are keen to develop their fitness, endurance and speed. Sessions will include intervals, running drills and conditioning. This is a more focused club for children who are ready to challenge themselves and improve their running. Please note there is no breakfast included at this club. Children will be dismissed to the playground at the end of the session to make their way to class.
Administering Medication
We are bound by the Local Authority regulations, which seek to exclude any drugs from school premises unless absolutely necessary. This means that any antibiotics taken three times a day should be administered before school, at the end of the school day and at bedtime. Should a child have to take antibiotics four times a day or have other medication during the school day as specifically instructed by the GP, we are happy to administer this medicine. However, before we do so, parents must provide consent and complete the Administering Medicine form. Medication should be provided in the original packaging, with the child’s name, giving clear administering instructions.
Mobile Phones
Parents, please be reminded NO mobile phone use on the school premises at all before and after school. We want you to set the best example for our children – be present for them at these important times. If parents are on their phones at drop off/pick up time, a member or staff may politely request that they put it away until they have left the playground.
Breakfast Club
We strongly recommend that you walk your children to the door of breakfast club in the mornings rather than leaving them at the school gates (this applies to older children as well). The site is not supervised early in the morning. Please also be reminded that you will not be able to come in for Breakfast club until 8.00am.
Bringing in items late to school
If there is an item that you or your child has forgotten (such as water bottles, clothing, bags, books, musical instruments, lunch or snacks, etc.) can these please be brought to the office via the Everington Road Gate NO LATER than 9.30am. Taking items to classrooms during school hours disturbs teaching and learning, as well as the office.
