Lunches

Children need to have either school dinners or packed lunches. Some children are having a mixture and the kitchen staff are finding it difficult to predict the number of lunches required and this is leading to either too many or too few lunches being prepared.

Kitchen staff have also noticed children in Years 1-6 who have eaten their packed lunches going up to be served a school dinner resulting in less food for the children who have school dinners daily. If your child has packed lunches, please ensure they are aware they cannot have both.

Reception Parent Meeting

Please come along to the Reception parent meeting, where you will find out about some of our teaching strategies and how best to support your child throughout the year.
Date: Friday 25th September
Time: 2.45pm
Location: Lower Hall

We hope to see many of you there.

Year 5 Trip to Tower of London

Year 5 will be heading to the Tower of London on Wednesday 23rd September. Please ensure they are wearing comfortable shoes as there will be a far bit of walking. Thankfully, the weather is looking sunny but please check the weather forecast nearer the time, and pack a rain coat if needed. You might want to consider applying sun cream before the trip, but they don’t need to bring any with them. Please ensure children have their packed lunches and bottle of water. Remember that packed lunches must not contain nuts.
Year 6 Tollesbury Meeting for Parents

Please come along to the Tollesbury meeting where you will find out about the trip, the activities, things your child will need to bring, and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Date: Tuesday 22nd September

Time: 5pm

Location: Staff Room

Coldfall Staff’s Charity Hike

On the 26th September, a team of Coldfall Staff will be completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for both Coldfall Primary School and EducAid Sierra Leone. This is a gruelling 26 mile trek that covers three of Yorkshire’s most challenging mountains. If you would like to sponsor the team and support the two causes, you can do so on the team’s Givewheel site here.

Ongoing Reminders

Access to the school

For Safeguarding reasons, the Coldfall Avenue gate is locked between 9.05 am and 3.15 pm. Please use the Everington Road entrance during these times. There are no exceptions apart from for Blue Badge holders. This applies to parents attending trips and special events. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all children.

Administering Medication

We are bound by the Local Authority regulations, which seek to exclude any drugs from school premises unless absolutely necessary. This means that any antibiotics taken three times a day should be administered before school, at the end of the school day and at bedtime. Should a child have to take antibiotics four times a day or have other medication during the school day as specifically instructed by the GP, we are happy to administer this medicine. However, before we do so, parents must provide consent and complete the Administering Medicine form. Medication should be provided in the original packaging, with the child’s name, giving clear administering instructions.

Mobile Phones

Parents, please be reminded NO mobile phone use on the school premises at all before and after school. We want you to set the best example for our children – be present for them at these important times. If parents are on their phones at drop off/pick up time, a member or staff may politely request that they put it away until they have left the playground.

Breakfast Club

We strongly recommend that you walk your children to the door of breakfast club in the mornings rather than leaving them at the school gates (this applies to older children as well). The site is not supervised early in the morning. Please also be reminded that you will not be able to come in for Breakfast club until 8.00am.

Bringing in items late to school

If there is an item that you or your child has forgotten (such as water bottles, clothing, bags, books, musical instruments, lunch or snacks, etc.) can these please be brought to the office via the Everington Road Gate NO LATER than 9.30am. Taking items to classrooms during school hours disturbs teaching and learning, as well as the office.
