Welcome to the final Headlines of 2026. Last week was certainly testing for all of us at Coldfall! The heat! The floods! The plague (Oak Processionary Moths).Thank you to every member of staff who kept going in tricky and ever-changing conditions.

You’d think it might be a quieter week this week wouldn’t you? Well, on the day I wrote this this we had:

  1. Early Fun Run on the field for children and parents
  2. Peacock Class to Tolmers Wood residential
  3. Year 6 Digital Art with professional artist Liga Kitchen
  4. Wheelchair basketball lessons
  5. Cycling proficiency lessons
  6. Rugby TOTs on the MUGA at lunchtime
  7. Middlesex cricket
  8. Jazz and Swing Dance lessons

Later in the week, Year 6 were off to a West End musical, there was a violin concert, Volleyball sessions, Puffin headed to Tolmers, Little Chorus, Junior Chorus and the Choir performed on Wednesday, and on Friday Goldfinch assembly and a Strongman visit!

Thanks are due to Mr Browning for organising such a brilliant range of activities for our children and Flora Blackwood, a parent who supported across the week. Thanks also to our other parent and community volunteers this week.

July Value of the Month - Patience

As outlined above, the school is a very busy place at this time of the year! In our busy world, let’s listen carefully, stay calm when things don't go our way, and give others the time and encouragement they need to learn and grow.

As parents, teachers and members of the community we can model patience through the way we speak to our children, support them as they develop new skills, and show understanding when mistakes happen. In school, patience helps us build a kind and respectful community where everyone feels valued, friendships flourish, and learning can thrive. By working together to practise patience every day, we create a happier and more supportive environment for all.

Summer Fair

Thanks to YOU for showing up and helping in numbers that were greatly needed but appreciated. I tried to shake the hand and express my gratitude to as many parent helpers as possible. Apologies too, because I know that I didn’t get round to all of you personally. I would like to thank in particular the resourceful, creative, hardworking and sensational Friends Of Coldfall Committee- Jenny, Kat, Rachael. You made it a lovely family and community day for us to enjoy.

Hot Weather

It is looking likely that it will be quite warm next week. We expect school will be open as usual and all classrooms will have their air-con units switched on. If you feel it is inappropriate for your child to attend, please keep them at home. We have no plans for a midday pick up next week.

Reports and Exhibition Evening

Your child’s reports will be sent to you next week before Exhibition Evening on 9th July. Please be patient as it does take time to send them all. If you have more than one child at school their reports may not arrive at the same time.

Exhibition Evening will be from 4pm-6pm. We would like to remind you that there will be no activity clubs running today and you have not been charged for the session but Night Owls will still be available for after-school care.

If you collect your child from Night Owls to go with you to Exhibition Evening you cannot sign them back in. Please take any collected children home with you.

We are pleased to invite you to a class meeting in September where you will meet your child's new teacher as a group. You will learn about the upcoming curriculum and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Coldfall awarded Green Flag status with Distinction (again!)

We are delighted to tell you that, for the third year in a row, we have been awarded a Green Flag with Distinction by Eco Schools for our work as a school to empower young people to protect our planet. This is a reflection of all the work that happens at school, throughout the curriculum, in assemblies, in Green School lessons, and by Star Squad and our Junior Travel Ambassadors. Hedgehog Friendly Schools – Silver Award

This year, for the first time, we have also been accredited as a Hedgehog Friendly School! We’ve worked with the British Hedgehog Preservation Society throughout the year to teach the children about hedgehogs – a wonderful, but endangered native wild animal – and make our school a safer and more suitable place for them to live.We are now planning to buy a hedgehog house for the Nature Trail to encourage them to settle here.

Year 4 trip to the Wildflower Meadow

On Wednesday 1st July, Year 4 visited the wildflower meadow on the edge of Coldfall Woods during their Green School lessons, led by outdoor educator Laura Fox from Friends of Coldfall Woods. They had sown yellow rattle seeds in November to encourage a variety of wildflowers to grow, and came back to see the results – a beautiful meadow of colourful flowers! They gathered data on the pollinators visiting the meadow and learnt more about the importance of encouraging biodiversity.

Adopt A Teddy Stall – thank you!

A big thank you to everyone – adults and children - who took time to help run this stall at the Summer Fair!Thank you also to everyone who donated toys, and to Friends of Coldfall for working with Star Squad again this year to reduce waste. We raised a significant amount of money for the school, and the Star Squad children who volunteered really enjoyed the experience. We reduced landfill by passing on toys to new owners, meaning we all buy less ‘stuff’.
